Çağdaş Öğüç was born in Kyrenia. After completing his undergraduate education at the Graphic Communication Department of the University of Nicosia, located in the south of Cyprus, he gained his Master’s from the Radio Television Cinema Master’s programme in 2014 with his thesis on “Protest Music as a Form of Communication: The Example of Blues”.

Öğüç prepared his doctoral thesis on “The Social Legitimacy of Surveillance” in the Media and Communication Studies PhD programme in October 2018 and was awarded the title of doctor.

Prior to his academic career, Öğüç worked for various media organizations publishing in the north of Cyprus.
